David Reid Homes Sunshine Coast South has just opened its doors this month.  Russell Humphrey and Ian Royal have signed up for the business and new jobs are already flowing in for them.  Russell and Ian come with years of experience in the building industry and Russell has working in our Head Office for David Reid Homes Australia.  Their showhome will be opening shortly in Pelican Waters and they have some builds already through to construction.

Kuwait City, Kuwait, April 28th 2010: The New Zealand Minister of Trade, the Honourable Tim Groser, was accompanied by David Reid, CEO David Reid Homes and Abdulkarim H. Jaragh, Chairman of Al Solajan in Kuwait yesterday, to witness the signing of a joint venture agreement between the two companies.

David Reid Homes from New Zealand has set up a design office in Kuwait, combining with Al Solajan to offer the latest high-end design, interiors and construction for both residential and commercial projects.

David Reid Homes brings their expertise in building design and modern construction methods and recognized the strength and credibility of Al Solajan as a Middle East partner, especially in the fields of construction and project management.

As a result of the joint venture US$ 2 million is being invested into land and a show home to showcase the company’s capabilities in Kuwait.

The Minister of Trade is visiting Kuwait with a delegation of over 90 New Zealand businesspeople, with the aim of reinforcing and expanding trade relationships between the two countries.

The Master Builders-Bankwest Housing Excellence Awards are unique in that they recognise the best

builders based exclusively on their construction excellence and quality of workmanship. Each year a

team of experienced building judges inspect nominations in a variety of categories which include

individually designed contract homes, display homes, renovations and transportable homes.

The awards were presented at a gala function at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre on 6 March

attended by a crowd of over 680 builders, support staff, sponsors and guests.

There was a record number of over 320 metropolitan entries in 2010 received this year, which

reflects a strong recovery in the residential construction market across the state.

David Reid Homes and other award-winning homes will represent WA at the national Master

Builders Housing and Construction Awards in Canberra on 19 November 2010.

Demand lifts for David Reid Homes

Quality home builder David Reid Homes is experiencing a strong revival in interest from potential new home owners.

Contracts for new homes have doubled in the September quarter compared to the previous three months while the number of enquiries for new home concept plans, for which potential customers pay a fee, are up 25 per cent in the September quarter over the previous quarter. General enquiries are double that of the same quarter in 2008.

David Reid Homes Limited General Manager Ben Allan says the level of activity indicates the slump in new home construction to very low levels is over.

“Confidence is returning particularly to those who had acquired land for their home but had put off the decision to start building because of the uncertainty caused by the global financial crisis.”

“The increase in interest is patchy but is across all sections of the market and while we are not cheering loudly yet, we are quietly confident that the worst is over for the home construction industry.”

Inquiries from dairy farmers had revived with the announcement of higher forecast payout for the current dairy season.

Mr Allan says the award winning David Reid Homes is particularly well positioned for the recovery having invested in seven new show homes in the last six months and made commitments to build a further five around the country. It had also taken the opportunity of the downturn to invest in a central estimating system and financial support mechanisms for franchisees.

“Whilst David Reid Homes has not been immune to the impact of the recession, we have taken advantage of it to review our supply chain and gain further efficiencies and benefits for customers by appointing PlaceMakers as a preferred supplier.”
