THE PROCESS OF DESIGN AND BUILD

At David Reid Homes, we recognise that designing and building your dream home will be an exciting and rewarding process where you get exactly what you want. To assist you in understanding the process, we offer the following outline as a guide to how we partner with you to create your very own Architecturally Designed Custom Built Home.

CONCEPT
STAGE
  • Meet with an experienced David Reid Homes Sales Consultant at either one of our luxury showhomes or at an office location to review your requirements for your new home. Peruse a range of Concepts for inspiration or maybe you already have your own plans you wish to discuss. All obligation free.
  • Our Consultant will then meet you on site at your convenience to offer advice which will assist you in planning your new home. Again, this is obligation free.
  • Next we move to the Design stage. Now it gets exciting! For a small fee we will produce a floor plan and 3D Concepts for your approval. If you do not have a contour survey or soil test we can also take care of those to ensure the project remains within budget.
  • Once you are happy with the design of your new home we will submit to our estimate department for a quotation. This will normally take around 5-10 working days.
APPROX. 3-4 WEEKS
PLANNING
STAGE
  • With your approval of the quotation we will prepare a Master Builders Association Building Contract (or HIA in some states). On signing you will need to pay a 5% deposit to cover insurances, certification & council fees.
  • Building approvals normally take around 4 weeks but may vary across Australia. During this time our interior designer will meet at your convenience to assist with your selections. We carry a range of items and brochures in our offices, but as a custom builder will also encourage you to choose any item from any supplier to create a truly unique home.
  • Once council approval is received and selections completed, construction commences within days !
APPROX. 6 WEEKS
BUILDING
STAGE
  • Each week you will receive an email from the construction manager that not only details the progress of your home but also contains the latest images. You will be informed of what has been achieved duringthe current week as well as the plan for the following week. As this is a unique home the allocated building supervisor will be happy to meet you onsite and discuss the progress of your new home. As a custom builder we are prepared for any changes you may wish to make during construction.
  • As we approach completion you will be notified of the anticipated handover date on the weekly email. To ensure all David Reid Homes continue to ‘Raise the Standard’ an internal quality control process takes place after your inspection and before handover. Rest assured, this in no way impacts your occupancy. Through slick operating procedures developed from 20 years of experience your home is already ahead of the scheduled contract completion date.
