The home your
street remembers

David Reid Homes builds custom and luxury homes across Sydney’s inner west, from Balmain and Leichhardt through Canada Bay and Concord to Strathfield and Burwood. Every home is designed for its block and for the family who will live in it, whether that is a knockdown rebuild on a narrow lot or a new home on one of the area’s generous garden blocks.

01 / Ethos
David Reid Homes Sydney

For twenty years we have built homes designed for their site and remembered long after the trucks leave. In Sydney, that work is led by Rocco and Jo Natoli.

02 / Building in the inner west

Built for the block,
not the catalogue

Inner west blocks are compact and character-rich, and the councils protect that character closely. We work with the controls of Inner West Council, Canada Bay, Strathfield and Burwood, and we design homes that pass through approval while still feeling unmistakably yours. On narrow sites the answers come from the section rather than sprawl: light wells, courtyards, double-height voids and rooflines that borrow sky.

Common Questions
Can you build on narrow inner west blocks?

Yes, narrow blocks are a specialty. On a tight frontage the design has to work in section: courtyards, light wells, voids and careful room sequencing keep a narrow home feeling open and bright. We design for the block you have rather than forcing a wide plan onto a lot that cannot take it.

Should I renovate my terrace or federation home, or knock down and rebuild?

It depends on the home and the controls that apply to it. Some inner west houses sit in heritage conservation areas where the streetscape is protected, which can favour building new behind a retained frontage. Where controls allow, a full knockdown rebuild often beats a major renovation on cost certainty, warranty and energy performance. We assess your home and give you an honest view either way.

Which inner west suburbs do you build in?

We build across the inner west, including Balmain, Rozelle, Leichhardt, Annandale, Haberfield, Five Dock, Drummoyne, Concord, Strathfield and Burwood. If your suburb is nearby but not listed, talk to us about your block.

How do heritage conservation areas affect a new build in the inner west?

They shape what the street sees, not what your family gets. In a conservation area the front elevation and streetscape carry controls, so we design frontages that sit comfortably in the street while the home behind them is entirely yours. We manage the heritage and approval process with council as part of the build.
