The home your
street remembers

David Reid Homes builds custom and luxury homes across the Sutherland Shire, from Cronulla and Caringbah through Miranda and Sutherland to Menai and the Georges River waterfront. Every home is designed for its block and for the family who will live in it, whether that is a beachside knockdown rebuild or a new home backing onto the bush.

01 / Ethos
David Reid Homes Sydney

For twenty years we have built homes designed for their site and remembered long after the trucks leave. In Sydney, that work is led by Rocco and Jo Natoli.

02 / Building in the Shire

Built for the block,
not the catalogue

Much of the Shire’s housing stock is original brick and fibro on generous blocks, which makes it one of Sydney’s natural knockdown rebuild markets: keep the street and the block, replace the house. We work with Sutherland Shire Council’s controls, design to the site’s bushfire (BAL) rating where the bush comes close, and handle the foreshore and flood considerations that come with river and bay frontage.

Common Questions
Do you build in bushfire (BAL) rated areas of the Shire?

Yes. Blocks near the Royal National Park and the Shire’s bushland corridors carry bushfire attack level (BAL) ratings, and we design and specify to the rating your site carries: construction detail, materials, glazing and landscaping all follow from it. The BAL assessment happens early so the design and the budget reflect it from the start.

Can you build waterfront homes on Port Hacking or the Georges River?

Yes. Waterfront blocks in the Shire come with foreshore building lines, stability and flood considerations, and access challenges, and they reward custom design more than any other site. We manage the additional approvals and engineering, and design the home around the water rather than simply near it.

Which Shire suburbs do you build in?

We build across the Sutherland Shire, including Cronulla, Caringbah, Miranda, Sutherland, Gymea, Sylvania, Oyster Bay, Menai and the surrounding suburbs, along with the Georges River area. If your suburb is nearby but not listed, talk to us about your block.

Is knockdown rebuild popular in the Sutherland Shire?

Very. The Shire has some of Sydney’s best value large blocks under original houses, and rebuilding lets you stay near the beaches, the bay and the schools while getting a brand new home designed for the land. It also avoids the stamp duty of buying elsewhere. We assess your block and talk you through what is possible before you commit.
